Stonecrop Wines

Stonecrop

2006 Pinot Noir

Martinborough has the lowest rainfall on the North Island, a cool climate and free draining gravelly soils, the perfect conditions for Stonecrop to produce top quality Pinot Noir. Classic Pinot Noir clones of Abel and Dijon 115 and 777 were planted to provide complexity to our wine, we keep our yields low and hand pick our grapes to ensure that only the best fruit is harvested. 2006 was one of the region's best, we had a hot and dry summer and a warm autumn resulting in an excellent vintage. The grapes were picked at 24 Brix at optimum maturity and the wine was matured for 11 months in French oak barrels (25% Cadus new oak).

Seductive aromas of soft plum and elegant florals combined with silky tannins complete this classic estate grown wine from New Zealand's premier Pinot Noir region.
